Job Description
Are you a passionate bibliophile with a knack for organization and an eye for aesthetics? John Lewis & Partners is seeking a dedicated Bookcase & Collection Organizer to join our bespoke home services team. This unique role focuses on helping our customers curate, organize, and beautifully display their beloved book collections. You will provide personalized advice and hands-on organization, transforming cluttered shelves into elegant, accessible, and visually appealing literary havens. This is an exciting opportunity to combine your love for books with your organizational talents, providing an invaluable service to fellow book enthusiasts across Caversham and the wider Reading area.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-home consultations to assess clients' book collections and organizational needs.
- Develop and implement bespoke organization plans tailored to each client's space and preferences (e.g., by genre, author, color, size).
- Categorize, sort, and arrange books to maximize accessibility and aesthetic appeal.
- Advise clients on optimal shelving solutions, storage techniques, and collection maintenance.
- Assist with the decluttering and donation/resale of unwanted books.
- Provide guidance on preserving valuable or antique books.
- Collaborate with interior design consultants to integrate book collections seamlessly into overall home decor.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality with all clients.
Required Skills
- A genuine passion for books and literature across various genres.
- Proven exceptional organizational and categorization skills.
- Strong aesthetic sense and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-centric approach.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Physical ability to lift and move books, and work on ladders/stools as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in home organization, interior design, or library science.
- Knowledge of book care and preservation techniques.
- Proficiency in using digital tools for inventory or collection management.
- A portfolio demonstrating previous organizational or design projects (even personal ones).
