Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and experienced Custom Critical Drivers to join our team, focusing on expedited freight. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe and timely transportation of high-value, time-sensitive, and often critical shipments across designated routes. This position requires exceptional attention to detail, adherence to strict schedules, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and service. Drivers will operate state-of-the-art equipment and play a crucial role in our mission to deliver specialized logistics solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial motor vehicles for expedited freight transportation.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local driving regulations and company policies.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, ensuring vehicle and equipment are in optimal condition.
- Secure cargo properly to prevent damage during transit.
- Maintain accurate electronic logs and complete necessary paperwork.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and team members regarding shipment status and potential delays.
- Handle specialized or temperature-controlled freight as required.
- Ensure on-time delivery of critical shipments, often under tight deadlines.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Minimum of 24 months verifiable commercial driving experience
- Clean driving record and MVR (Motor Vehicle Record)
- Ability to pass DOT physical and drug screen
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Commitment to safety and adherence to all regulations
- Ability to lift and move freight up to 75 lbs
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with expedited freight or time-critical shipments
- Hazardous Materials (HazMat) endorsement
- Tanker endorsement
- Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs) and transportation management systems
- Previous experience with temperature-controlled logistics
