Job Description
Pasco County Schools is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated K-12 Music Teacher to join our team in Land O’ Lakes, Florida. This vital role involves developing and implementing a comprehensive music curriculum across various grade levels, fostering a love for music in all students, and contributing to a vibrant school community. The successful candidate will inspire students through instrumental and vocal instruction, music theory, history, and performance opportunities. Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver engaging music lessons for students from Kindergarten through 12th grade.
- Teach fundamental music concepts, including rhythm, melody, harmony, and form.
- Provide instruction in vocal and/or instrumental performance (e.g., choir, band, general music).
- Organize and direct student performances, concerts, and extracurricular music activities.
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to foster musical growth.
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to integrate music into the broader curriculum.
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
- Manage and maintain musical instruments, equipment, and classroom resources.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and school events.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with educational best practices.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field.
- Valid Florida teaching certification in Music (K-12).
- Demonstrated proficiency in a variety of musical instruments or vocal techniques.
- Strong classroom management and instructional design skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work effectively with students of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
- Knowledge of current music education methodologies and technologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Music Education or a related discipline.
- Experience directing school ensembles (e.g., band, orchestra, choir).
- Proficiency in multiple musical genres and styles.
- Experience with music technology and software for composition or instruction.
- Familiarity with the Florida Standards for Music Education.
