Job Description
Are you eager to start a career in the culinary arts but lack formal experience? The O.Henry Hotel is seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our kitchen team as a Kitchen Assistant. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity to learn the fundamental skills required in a professional kitchen, work alongside experienced chefs, and receive consistent weekly pay. You will play a crucial role in maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment while assisting with food preparation tasks. We are looking for someone with a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a genuine passion for food and hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist chefs and cooks with basic food preparation, including washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including washing dishes, sanitizing workstations, and sweeping/mopping floors.
- Store food items properly in designated areas, adhering to health and safety standards.
- Help receive and store deliveries, checking for quality and quantity.
- Ensure all kitchen equipment is clean and properly stored after use.
- Adhere to all food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Support the culinary team during service periods as needed.
- Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
