Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and physically capable Linen Chute Clearer to join our hotel operations team. This critical on-site role involves working in the hotel basement to efficiently manage and transport soiled linen from guest floors to the laundry facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for clearing linen chutes, handling heavy loads, and ensuring the cleanliness and safety of the collection areas. This position requires strong physical stamina and attention to detail to maintain a smooth and hygienic operation within our bustling hotel.
Key Responsibilities
- Regularly clear linen chutes from various hotel floors, ensuring no blockages and maintaining a steady flow of linen.
- Collect, sort, and transport large quantities of soiled linen from the chutes to designated laundry areas using appropriate carts and equipment.
- Operate linen compactors or balers as required, strictly adhering to all safety guidelines and operational procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the linen collection areas, hotel basement, and chute access points.
- Adhere strictly to all safety and hygiene protocols, including proper lifting techniques and handling of heavy loads.
- Promptly report any equipment malfunctions, damage, or safety concerns to supervision.
- Assist with other general housekeeping or support tasks as needed to ensure smooth hotel operations.
Required Skills
- Proven ability to perform heavy lifting repeatedly (up to 50 lbs or 23 kg) and other physically demanding tasks throughout a shift.
- Strong physical stamina, endurance, and agility to perform duties efficiently.
- Excellent attention to safety procedures and a strong commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic communication skills to interact effectively with team members and supervisors.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a hotel, commercial laundry, or similar physically demanding role is an asset.
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations in a commercial or hospitality setting.
- High school diploma or equivalent educational background.
