Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Records Clerk with a strong focus on healthcare administration and advanced Excel skills to join our remote team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for managing, organizing, and maintaining patient medical records, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with all relevant regulations. This position offers the flexibility of working from home, requiring excellent time management and self-motivation.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately organize, scan, and file patient medical records into electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Perform data entry and verification tasks, ensuring the integrity and completeness of patient information.
- Utilize Microsoft Excel extensively for tracking, reporting, and analyzing medical records data.
- Process requests for medical record copies in accordance with HIPAA guidelines and company policies.
- Review medical records for accuracy and completeness, identifying and rectifying discrepancies.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals and administrative staff to ensure timely and efficient record management.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all patient health information (PHI).
- Assist with special projects and audits related to medical records management as needed.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (creating spreadsheets, formulas, data analysis).
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and healthcare administration processes.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality (HIPAA compliance).
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Health Information Technology or a related field.
- Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Medical Office Assistant.
- Previous experience working with Epic or Cerner EHR systems.
- Proven experience in a remote work setting.
