Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Data Scientist with a strong quantitative analytics focus to join our team. In this role, you will be instrumental in understanding user behavior, optimizing product features, and driving strategic decisions through rigorous data analysis. You will work closely with product, engineering, and design teams to identify opportunities, design experiments, and interpret results that directly impact Pinterest’s growth and user engagement. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of statistical methods, A/B testing, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights for diverse stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and analyze A/B tests and other experiments to evaluate the impact of new product features and algorithms.
- Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and data visualizations to monitor key performance indicators and communicate insights.
- Conduct in-depth quantitative analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and potential issues in user behavior and product performance.
- Build predictive models to forecast future trends and optimize various aspects of the product experience.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product, engineering, design) to define metrics, set goals, and inform strategic roadmaps.
- Communicate complex analytical findings clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Contribute to the development of data infrastructure and best practices for data collection and analysis.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of experience in a Data Scientist or similar analytical role.
- Strong proficiency in SQL for data extraction and manipulation.
- Expertise in statistical analysis, experimental design (A/B testing), and causal inference.
- Proficiency in Python or R for data analysis, modeling, and visualization.
- Experience with large datasets and distributed computing environments (e.g., Spark, Hadoop).
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to tell stories with data.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or Ph.D. in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Mathematics).
- Experience with machine learning techniques and predictive modeling.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker, Superset).
- Experience in the social media, e-commerce, or consumer technology industry.
- Understanding of user psychology and behavior analytics.
