Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Trash Collector to join our facilities team at a prominent shopping mall in Savannah, GA. In this essential role, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and tidiness of the mall’s common areas, ensuring a pleasant shopping experience for all our guests. This is a hands-on position requiring physical stamina and a keen eye for detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Regularly empty and clean all trash receptacles, bins, and compactors throughout the shopping mall, including food courts, restrooms, common areas, and parking facilities.
- Transport trash and recyclable materials to designated collection points.
- Monitor waste levels and proactively address areas requiring immediate attention.
- Operate cleaning equipment safely and efficiently, such as compactors and balers.
- Perform minor cleaning tasks as needed to maintain overall cleanliness standards.
- Report any maintenance issues, hazards, or suspicious activities to supervision promptly.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures established by the company.
- Ensure compliance with all waste disposal regulations.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and carry heavy trash bags and other items (up to 50 lbs) repeatedly.
- Excellent physical stamina and endurance for walking, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to cleanliness.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Basic understanding of safety protocols in a commercial environment.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in janitorial, custodial, or waste management roles.
- Familiarity with commercial waste disposal equipment.
- Knowledge of proper chemical handling and safety procedures.
- A positive attitude and a customer service orientation when interacting with mall visitors and staff.
