Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Speech and Language Pathologist to join our dynamic team in Truro. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of speech, language, communication, and swallowing difficulties.
- Develop and implement individualized therapy plans tailored to patient needs and goals.
- Deliver evidence-based interventions in individual and group settings.
- Monitor and evaluate patient progress, adjusting therapy plans as necessary.
- Collaborate effectively with patients, families, carers, and a multidisciplinary team (e.g., doctors, nurses, physiotherapists).
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with professional and organizational standards.
- Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and professional development activities.
- Educate patients and their families on communication strategies and swallowing techniques.
- Adhere to all professional codes of conduct and ethical guidelines.
- Support the referral process for patients to other services when appropriate.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Speech and Language Pathology (or equivalent international qualification).
- Eligible for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) in the UK.
- Minimum of 2 years post-qualification clinical experience in a relevant setting.
- Demonstrated ability to assess, diagnose, and treat a broad range of communication and swallowing disorders.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients and colleagues.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within a private healthcare setting.
- Specialist experience in areas such as dysphagia, voice disorders, or neurological conditions.
- Experience with multicultural populations.
- Participation in research or service improvement projects.
