Job Description

Saint Leo University is seeking a dedicated and reliable University Shuttle Driver to provide safe and efficient transportation services for students, faculty, and staff across our beautiful campus. This is a campus-based, full-time position with stable hours, offering a predictable schedule and the opportunity to be an integral part of our university community. The ideal candidate will possess excellent driving skills, a strong commitment to safety, and a friendly, service-oriented demeanor. You will be responsible for operating university vehicles, adhering to designated routes and schedules, and ensuring a positive experience for all passengers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate university shuttle vehicles safely and courteously on scheduled routes and for special events.
  • Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, university policies, and safety regulations.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, reporting any maintenance issues promptly.
  • Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking, including those with disabilities, as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly vehicle interior and exterior.
  • Communicate effectively with passengers and dispatch regarding schedules, delays, or emergencies.
  • Provide excellent customer service, answering questions and providing assistance to passengers.
  • Maintain accurate records of mileage, passenger counts, and fuel consumption.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid state driver's license with a clean driving record for at least 3 years
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening
  • Excellent knowledge of traffic laws and defensive driving techniques
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Physical ability to operate a vehicle for extended periods and assist passengers as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a professional driver (e.g., bus driver, shuttle driver)
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger endorsement (Class B or C)
  • Familiarity with the Saint Leo University campus and surrounding areas
  • Experience working in a university or educational environment
