Job Description
We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Metadata Analyst with a strong focus on Machine Learning to join our innovative team. This critical role involves managing, optimizing, and ensuring the quality of metadata essential for our machine learning models and data-driven initiatives. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between data science and data governance, working to classify, tag, and organize large datasets to improve model accuracy, efficiency, and interpretability. This position is 100% remote, allowing you to contribute from anywhere within the specified region.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain metadata standards and processes across various data sources and machine learning pipelines.
- Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and business stakeholders to identify and define critical metadata requirements for ML models.
- Develop and apply automated metadata extraction and classification techniques.
- Perform metadata quality checks, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and completeness of metadata.
- Support the lifecycle of machine learning models by providing robust metadata management for features, models, and predictions.
- Document data lineage, data definitions, and data governance policies related to ML datasets.
- Advise on best practices for data cataloging, data dictionaries, and metadata repositories.
- Monitor metadata usage and impact on ML model performance and data discoverability.
Required Skills
- 3+ years of experience in data analysis, metadata management, or data governance.
- Strong understanding of machine learning concepts, data pipelines, and data warehousing.
- Proficiency in SQL for data querying and manipulation.
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, R) for data processing and automation.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and their data services.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to identify, analyze, and interpret complex data and metadata.
- Solid communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related quantitative field.
- Experience with data cataloging tools (e.g., Alation, Collibra, Apache Atlas).
- Understanding of MLOps principles and practices.
- Knowledge of data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and their impact on metadata.
- Certification in relevant data management or cloud technologies.
