Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive WFH Community Moderator to join our global moderation team. This is a 100% remote position, allowing you to work from the comfort of your home in El Paso, TX, and contribute to the safety and well-being of our online communities. As a Community Moderator, you will be on the front lines, reviewing user-generated content, enforcing platform guidelines, and ensuring a positive experience for all users. You will play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of our platform and protecting our communities from harmful or inappropriate content. This role requires excellent judgment, a strong sense of responsibility, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced digital environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor user-generated content (text, images, video) across various channels and platforms to ensure compliance with community guidelines and terms of service.
- Proactively identify and address potential violations, including spam, harassment, hate speech, and other inappropriate content.
- Take appropriate action on reported content and user behavior, including warnings, suspensions, and bans, in accordance with established protocols.
- Respond to user inquiries and appeals regarding moderation decisions with empathy and clarity.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including Trust & Safety and Legal, to escalate complex issues and contribute to policy improvements.
- Maintain accurate records of moderation activities and identify trends in community behavior.
- Stay informed about current online safety issues, platform updates, and best practices in content moderation.
- Participate in ongoing training and calibration sessions to ensure consistent application of moderation standards.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of online community dynamics and user behavior.
- Excellent written communication skills with impeccable grammar and spelling.
- Ability to make swift, sound judgments under pressure and maintain objectivity.
- High level of empathy and a commitment to user safety.
- Proficiency in using various online moderation tools and platforms.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify nuanced violations.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
- Familiarity with Discord's platform and its community guidelines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in online content moderation, customer service, or community management.
- Experience with crisis management or de-escalation in an online context.
- Familiarity with global internet safety standards and regulations.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings or weekends, as needed.
- Multilingual abilities are a plus, but not required.
