Job Description
We are seeking highly motivated and experienced Independent Drayage Drivers to join our network in the Henderson, Nevada area. As an Independent Drayage Driver, you will be responsible for the efficient and safe transport of shipping containers between ports, rail yards, and customer locations. This is a critical role in maintaining the flow of goods and requires a strong commitment to safety, timeliness, and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently transport shipping containers to and from designated ports, rail yards, and customer facilities.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local transportation regulations, including Hours of Service (HOS).
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of equipment and promptly report any defects or issues.
- Maintain accurate logbooks and submit all required documentation (bill of lading, delivery receipts, etc.) in a timely manner.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and other stakeholders.
- Ensure the securement of cargo to prevent damage during transit.
- Manage time effectively to meet delivery schedules and avoid delays.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Minimum 3 years of verifiable drayage driving experience
- Clean driving record (MVR) and satisfactory safety history
- Ability to pass DOT physical and drug screen
- Knowledge of federal and state transportation regulations
- Possession of a reliable, DOT-compliant tractor
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage routes efficiently
Preferred Qualifications
- Hazmat endorsement
- TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential)
- Experience with electronic logging devices (ELDs)
- Familiarity with local ports and rail yards in the Henderson/Las Vegas area
- Strong business acumen and ability to manage independent operations
