Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and professional Government Debt Recovery Agent to join our team. This role focuses on managing a portfolio of government debt accounts, ensuring timely and effective recovery efforts through professional and compliant communication methods. This position specifically involves working with individuals and entities to resolve overdue accounts without engaging in cold calling, focusing instead on inbound inquiries, scheduled follow-ups, and pre-qualified leads. Emphasis is placed on respectful client engagement and adherence to all regulatory guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of government debt accounts, ensuring timely and effective recovery efforts.
- Communicate with debtors via phone, email, and mail to negotiate payment plans and settlements.
- Educate debtors on their obligations and available payment options, while adhering to all compliance standards.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all communication and recovery activities in the system.
- Collaborate with internal teams to resolve complex cases and escalate issues as necessary.
- Ensure strict compliance with all federal, state, and local debt collection laws and company policies.
- Focus on inbound calls, warm leads, and scheduled follow-ups; no cold calling is involved in this role.
Required Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong negotiation and conflict resolution abilities.
- Proficiency in using debt recovery software and CRM systems.
- Ability to work independently and manage a high-volume caseload.
- High level of integrity and ethical conduct.
- Basic understanding of financial regulations and debt collection laws.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field.
- Previous experience in customer service, collections, or a financial services environment.
- Bilingual proficiency (e.g., Spanish, Mandarin) is a plus.
- Knowledge of government debt recovery processes.
