Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Behavioral Health Music Lead to join our interdisciplinary team. This pivotal role will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing music therapy programs within our behavioral health services, ensuring a strong clinical focus and adherence to best practices. The successful candidate will provide direct patient care, supervise other music therapists and clinical staff, and contribute to the overall therapeutic environment. This position offers a stable pay structure and the opportunity to make a significant impact on patient well-being through the power of music.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and evaluate clinically-focused music therapy programs for individuals and groups across various behavioral health settings.
  • Provide direct music therapy services to patients, utilizing evidence-based interventions to address mental health goals.
  • Supervise, mentor, and provide clinical guidance to a team of music therapists and other related behavioral health staff.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to integrate music therapy into comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Conduct assessments, develop individualized treatment goals, and meticulously document patient progress and outcomes.
  • Ensure program compliance with all relevant regulatory standards, ethical guidelines, and internal policies.
  • Participate in program development, quality improvement initiatives, and staff training related to music therapy.
  • Manage resources, including equipment and supplies, for music therapy programs.
  • Represent the music therapy program within the organization and to external stakeholders.

Required Skills

  • Board-Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) credential required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of post-certification clinical experience in behavioral health or mental health settings.
  • Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience in a clinical environment.
  • Strong understanding of psychiatric diagnoses, treatment modalities, and therapeutic interventions.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in clinical documentation and electronic health record systems.
  • Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or higher in Music Therapy or a related field.
  • Experience with program development and evaluation.
  • Advanced training or certification in specific therapeutic approaches (e.g., DBT, CBT, trauma-informed care).
  • Research experience or contributions to the field of music therapy.
  • Experience with diverse patient populations and cultural competencies.
