Job Description

Are you practical, eager to learn, and looking for a hands-on role with immediate impact? DFS Furniture plc is seeking an enthusiastic Furniture Fitter Mate to join our professional installation teams. This is an exciting opportunity to learn the trade from experienced fitters, travelling to various customer homes across Hampshire and beyond. You’ll play a crucial role in ensuring our furniture is delivered and expertly assembled, contributing directly to customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist lead fitters with the safe and efficient delivery and assembly of furniture in customer homes.
  • Learn and apply proper furniture assembly techniques, ensuring quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Handle furniture with care, preventing damage during transit and installation.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy work environment, both in the customer's home and the company vehicle.
  • Communicate professionally and courteously with customers and team members.
  • Assist with vehicle loading and unloading, ensuring all necessary tools and components are present.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development programs.

Required Skills

  • Ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Strong work ethic and reliability.
  • Good physical stamina and strength for lifting and moving furniture.
  • Basic problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Full UK driving license (desirable, but not essential for a Mate role).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a physical or manual role.
  • Interest in furniture assembly, DIY, or skilled trades.
  • Customer service experience.
