Job Description

Stagecoach West is offering an incredible opportunity to become a professional Bus Driver, even if you have no previous experience! We are actively recruiting Trainee Bus Drivers in Gloucester and will fully fund your Passenger Carrying Vehicle (PCV) licence training. This is a full-time, on-site role where you’ll learn everything you need to know to drive our modern fleet safely and confidently. If you’re a friendly, reliable individual with a standard UK driving licence and a passion for customer service, we want to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities
- Attend and successfully complete all required PCV training and tests to obtain your professional driving licence.
- Learn and adhere to all road safety regulations and company driving standards.
- Familiarise yourself with local routes, timetables, and bus stops in and around Gloucester.
- Provide excellent customer service to all passengers, assisting with queries and ensuring a comfortable journey.
- Operate ticket machines and handle cash/card payments accurately.
- Conduct daily vehicle checks to ensure the bus is safe and roadworthy.
- Maintain a clean and tidy bus interior.
- Report any incidents, accidents, or mechanical defects promptly.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and supervisors to ensure smooth operations.
Required Skills
- Full UK driving licence (Category B) with no more than 6 penalty points.
- Held a UK driving licence for at least 2 years.
- Ability to pass a full PCV medical examination.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A patient, calm, and responsible approach to driving.
- Strong commitment to safety and customer service.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
- Proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a customer-facing role.
- A good geographical knowledge of Gloucester and the surrounding areas.
- A clean driving record with no accidents or major endorsements.
- Enthusiasm for a career in public transport.
