Job Description
Are you a passionate film student with an insatiable curiosity for genres and storytelling? Netflix is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Entry Level Genre Specialist to join our Content Operations team in Jurupa Valley, CA. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the accuracy and discoverability of our vast content library, directly impacting how millions of members find their next favorite show or film. This position is ideal for individuals eager to apply their academic knowledge of film and television to a real-world, industry-leading setting, contributing to the metadata that powers our global streaming service. You will gain invaluable experience in content categorization, audience segmentation, and the strategic importance of metadata in the entertainment industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and categorize new and existing film and television content based on genre, sub-genre, and thematic elements.
- Develop and maintain consistent genre taxonomies and metadata standards.
- Conduct research on film history, cultural contexts, and audience trends to inform genre classification.
- Collaborate with content acquisition, product, and engineering teams to improve content discoverability.
- Provide insights on genre performance and audience engagement.
- Assist in quality control of metadata across the Netflix platform.
Required Skills
- Demonstrable passion for film, television, and popular culture.
- Strong understanding of film genres, narrative structures, and critical analysis.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Preferred Qualifications
