Job Description

We are seeking a meticulous and dedicated Aerospace Material Handler with a high precision lab focus to join our advanced manufacturing facility in Allentown, PA. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the precise handling, tracking, and organization of highly sensitive aerospace materials and components within a controlled laboratory environment. This position requires exceptional attention to detail, adherence to strict safety protocols, and a commitment to maintaining inventory accuracy crucial for our cutting-edge aerospace projects. You will support engineers and technicians by ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of materials, contributing directly to the efficiency and success of our research and development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming aerospace materials and components against purchase orders and specifications, noting any discrepancies.
  • Safely store and organize materials in designated high-precision storage areas, ensuring proper climate control and handling procedures are followed.
  • Accurately pick, kit, and prepare materials for distribution to various lab stations and manufacturing areas, adhering to strict material traceability requirements.
  • Utilize inventory management systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) to maintain precise records of material movement, location, and quantities.
  • Conduct regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies, reporting issues to supervisors promptly.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently (certification required/provided).
  • Package and label materials according to aerospace industry standards and hazardous material regulations when applicable.
  • Collaborate with quality control, production, and engineering teams to ensure smooth material flow and problem resolution.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies, quality standards, and environmental regulations.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the material handling and logistics operations.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in material handling, logistics, or inventory management, preferably in an aerospace, manufacturing, or high-tech lab environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow precise instructions and procedures with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in using inventory management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP systems).
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related technical field.
  • Forklift operation certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
  • Experience with ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) sensitive materials.
  • Knowledge of aerospace industry material handling best practices (e.g., AS9100).
  • Experience working in a cleanroom or controlled laboratory environment.
