Job Description
The Spokane Conservatory of Music is seeking a highly skilled and passionate Cello Instructor to join our esteemed faculty. This part-time position offers top hourly rates and an opportunity to work with motivated students of various ages and proficiencies. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional cello performance skills, a deep understanding of music theory and pedagogy, and a proven ability to inspire and guide students in their musical journey. You will be responsible for providing engaging, individualized cello lessons, preparing students for recitals and exams, and contributing to the vibrant musical community of our academy.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individualized cello instruction to students of all ages and skill levels, from beginner to advanced.
- Develop and implement personalized lesson plans tailored to each student's goals and learning style.
- Teach fundamental cello techniques, music theory, sight-reading, and performance skills.
- Prepare students for recitals, auditions, competitions, and examinations.
- Evaluate student progress regularly and provide constructive feedback.
- Maintain a positive, encouraging, and disciplined learning environment.
- Communicate effectively with students and their parents/guardians regarding progress and expectations.
- Participate in faculty meetings and school events as required.
Required Skills
- Exceptional proficiency in cello performance.
- Strong understanding of music theory and cello pedagogy.
- Proven ability to teach and motivate students of diverse ages and backgrounds.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to create engaging and effective lesson plans.
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Cello Performance, Music Education, or a related field.
