Job Description
Are you looking to start a career in logistics with a company that invests in your growth? UPS is seeking dedicated individuals for an Entry Level Logistics Driver position in Grand Rapids. This unique opportunity is designed for highly motivated candidates who currently do not possess a driver’s license but are eager to learn and commit to obtaining one. We offer comprehensive training, including support for acquiring your standard driver’s license, followed by specialized instruction on operating our vans and small trucks. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for safe and timely delivery of packages, ensuring exceptional customer service, and contributing to the efficiency of our logistics operations. This is an ideal role for someone seeking a challenging yet rewarding path into the transportation industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate actively in all required training programs, including driver's license acquisition.
- Safely operate company vans and small trucks for local package delivery and pickup routes upon obtaining license.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and company safety policies.
- Load and unload packages efficiently and accurately.
- Provide excellent customer service during deliveries and pickups.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs and records.
- Collaborate with dispatch and other team members to ensure timely service.
Required Skills
- No prior driver's license required, but a strong commitment to obtaining one through company-sponsored training.
- Ability to read and follow maps and GPS directions (after training).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality.
- Ability to lift and carry packages weighing up to 70 pounds.
- Successful completion of a background check and drug screening.
- Must be 21 years of age or older (for insurance purposes related to commercial driving).
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in a customer service or physically demanding role.
- Familiarity with the Grand Rapids metropolitan area.
