Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and reliable individuals to join our team as an Exotic Fruit Greenhouse Picker. This entry-level position is based within our state-of-the-art, clean greenhouse facility in Derry, Northern Ireland. As an Exotic Fruit Greenhouse Picker, you will be responsible for the careful harvesting, sorting, and packing of a variety of exotic fruits, ensuring they meet our high-quality standards. This is a hands-on role in a controlled, clean, and comfortable environment, ideal for individuals who are meticulous, enjoy a structured work setting, and are eager to contribute to the fresh produce industry. Full training will be provided, so no prior experience is necessary. This is a fantastic opportunity to start a career with a leading agricultural company.
Key Responsibilities
- Carefully harvest ripe exotic fruits from plants within a greenhouse environment.
- Inspect fruits for quality, ripeness, and defects, adhering to strict company standards.
- Gently pack fruits into appropriate containers, ensuring minimal damage.
- Assist with the preparation of fruits for shipment, including labeling and palletizing.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area within the greenhouse.
- Follow all health, safety, and hygiene protocols diligently.
- Report any issues with plant health or fruit quality to supervisors.
- Operate basic picking and packing equipment as required, after training.
Required Skills
- Ability to work meticulously and with attention to detail.
- Good physical stamina and ability to stand, bend, and lift light to moderate weights for extended periods.
- Reliability and punctuality are essential.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions effectively.
- Commitment to maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
- No prior experience required; full training provided.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a picking, packing, or agricultural role (advantageous but not required).
- Understanding of basic food safety and hygiene principles.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
