Job Description
We are seeking a talented and experienced Technical Writer to join our remote documentation and support team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating, editing, and maintaining high-quality technical documentation for Google products and services, aimed at both internal and external audiences. You will collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, and support teams to ensure accuracy, clarity, and completeness of all technical content. This is a 100% remote position, offering flexibility and the opportunity to work from anywhere within the UK.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, write, and edit technical documentation for Google products and APIs, including user guides, API references, release notes, and FAQs.
- Collaborate with product teams, engineers, and support specialists to understand product functionality and gather information for documentation.
- Maintain and update existing documentation to reflect product changes and improvements.
- Ensure technical accuracy, grammatical correctness, and adherence to Google's style guidelines.
- Simplify complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and engaging content for various audiences.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of documentation processes and tools.
- Manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and quality standards.
- Participate in user research and feedback loops to enhance documentation effectiveness.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Technical Writer in a software or technology company.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong understanding of technical concepts and the ability to explain them clearly.
- Proficiency with documentation tools (e.g., Git, Markdown, HTML, XML).
- Experience working with engineering and product teams in an Agile environment.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, remote setting.
- A portfolio demonstrating clear, concise, and accurate technical documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Communication, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform products or other complex developer platforms.
- Familiarity with UX principles and information architecture.
- Knowledge of SEO best practices for technical content.
- Experience with content management systems (CMS).
