Job Description

This position focuses on providing essential transportation services to passengers with disabilities and special needs, ensuring their safe and comfortable travel to appointments, work, and community activities. Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate paratransit vehicles, including vans and cutaway buses, in accordance with all traffic laws and company policies.
  • Provide door-to-door transportation for passengers, assisting them with boarding, securing wheelchairs, and alighting as needed.
  • Adhere to assigned routes and schedules, adapting as necessary while maintaining timely service.
  • Maintain accurate records of passenger manifests, mileage, and vehicle inspections.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, reporting any maintenance issues promptly.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and presentability of the vehicle interior and exterior.
  • Communicate effectively and courteously with passengers, their caregivers, dispatch, and other team members.
  • Provide exceptional customer service with empathy and respect for all passengers.
  • Respond to emergencies and unforeseen circumstances calmly and professionally.

Required Skills

  • Valid Washington State Driver's License with a clean driving record for at least the past five years.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, background check, and DOT physical.
  • Strong commitment to safety and adherence to all transportation regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated empathy and patience when working with individuals with diverse needs.
  • Physical ability to assist passengers, including securing wheelchairs and providing physical support (up to 50 lbs), as required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Basic computer literacy for dispatch and record-keeping systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a customer service or caregiving role.
  • Familiarity with the Pasco and greater Tri-Cities area.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger endorsement.
  • Experience operating accessible vehicles or equipment.
