Job Description
Join Schneider National as a Pet-Friendly Truck Driver and embark on a rewarding career that lets you share the open road with your beloved dog. You will be responsible for safely and efficiently transporting goods across designated routes, ensuring timely deliveries and adherence to all traffic and company regulations. Key Responsibilities
- Operate commercial motor vehicles safely and efficiently, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies.
- Transport goods across designated routes, ensuring timely pickup and delivery schedules are met.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, reporting any mechanical issues.
- Maintain accurate logbooks and submit all required documentation promptly.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and other team members.
- Secure freight properly to prevent damage during transit.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, including those related to pet safety and well-being on the road.
- Manage time effectively to meet delivery deadlines while ensuring adequate rest periods.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL-A)
- Minimum 6 months of verifiable tractor-trailer driving experience
- Clean driving record (MVR) with no serious violations
- Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations and safety protocols
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Experience with electronic logging devices (ELDs)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with various types of freight and trailers (e.g., dry van, reefer)
- Customer service-oriented mindset
- Ability to adapt to changing schedules and routes
- Basic mechanical knowledge for minor roadside adjustments
- Proficiency with navigation and routing software
