Job Description

We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Substitute Music Teachers to join the Moreno Valley Unified School District. Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and effective music instruction to students of various grade levels (K-12) according to existing lesson plans.
  • Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively, adhering to school and district policies.
  • Supervise students in various settings, including classrooms, rehearsals, and performances.
  • Collaborate with school staff to ensure a smooth transition and continuity of student learning.
  • Adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and needs.
  • Protect and maintain school equipment, including musical instruments and technology.
  • Adhere to all district policies, procedures, and ethical standards.

Required Skills

  • Valid California Teaching Credential, Substitute Teaching Permit, or eligibility for an Emergency 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit.
  • Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proficiency in teaching a variety of musical instruments or vocal techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a classroom effectively and maintain student engagement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to follow detailed lesson plans and adapt as needed.
  • Patience, flexibility, and a passion for working with children.
  • Successful completion of a background check and TB test clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a substitute teacher or classroom teacher.
  • Experience teaching music in a K-12 public school setting.
  • Knowledge of various music curricula and pedagogical approaches.
  • Ability to teach multiple musical genres or instruments.
