Job Description
Providence Health & Services is seeking a dedicated and compassionate UPS Chiropody Assistant to join our specialized elderly care team in Spokane. This vital role focuses on providing essential podiatric support services to our elderly patients, ensuring their comfort, mobility, and overall foot health. The Chiropody Assistant will work under the direct supervision of a licensed Chiropodist or Podiatrist, assisting with a range of foot care procedures, preparing treatment rooms, sterilizing instruments, and maintaining accurate patient records. A deep understanding of the unique needs of geriatric patients, coupled with a gentle and empathetic approach, is paramount for success in this position. This role is crucial in enhancing the quality of life for our elderly residents by maintaining optimal foot health, preventing complications, and promoting dignity.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Chiropodists/Podiatrists during examinations and treatments, including minor surgical procedures.
- Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments according to established protocols.
- Educate elderly patients and their caregivers on proper foot hygiene and care techniques.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records, including medical histories and treatment plans.
- Schedule appointments, manage patient flow, and assist with administrative tasks as needed.
- Perform routine foot care tasks such as nail trimming, callus reduction, and dressing changes under supervision.
- Monitor and document changes in patients' foot conditions, reporting any concerns to the Chiropodist.
- Provide empathetic and respectful care, acknowledging the unique needs and sensitivities of elderly patients.
- Ensure a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for all patients.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and facility policies.
Required Skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, particularly with elderly individuals.

Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate or diploma from an accredited Chiropody/Podiatry Assistant program.
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting, especially with geriatric patients.
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to podiatry.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
