Job Description
Join Genesis Health System as a Hospital Sitter, a crucial role focused on ensuring patient safety and comfort. This entry-level position requires no prior medical experience and offers a supportive environment where your primary responsibility is attentive observation. You will provide a reassuring presence for patients, helping to prevent falls and other incidents, and report any significant changes to the nursing staff. This role is ideal for individuals seeking a meaningful contribution to healthcare without the direct medical care responsibilities, offering a calm and focused patient interaction experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain continuous visual observation of assigned patients, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Remain within arm's reach of high-risk patients (e.g., those at risk for falls, confusion, or self-harm).
- Report any changes in patient condition, behavior, or expressed needs promptly to the nursing staff.
- Provide a calming and reassuring presence for patients and their families.
- Engage patients in light conversation or activities as appropriate to help alleviate anxiety.
- Assist with basic patient comfort needs, such as positioning or fetching items, under direct supervision of nursing staff.
- Document observations accurately and concisely as per hospital policy.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and patient confidentiality guidelines (HIPAA).
