Job Description
Are you passionate about data and eager to kickstart your career in Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing? IBM Canada is looking for a motivated and analytical Business Intelligence Developer Intern to join our dynamic team in Quebec City. This internship provides an invaluable opportunity to work on real-world projects, learn from industry experts, and contribute to critical data infrastructure. You will gain hands-on experience in developing and maintaining BI solutions, working with large datasets, and supporting the creation of insightful reports and dashboards that drive business decisions. This is an on-site position designed for students seeking a challenging and rewarding summer or co-op term.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the design, development, and maintenance of data warehousing solutions.
- Support the extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of data from various sources into the data warehouse.
- Contribute to the development of BI reports, dashboards, and data visualizations using tools like Cognos, Tableau, or Power BI.
- Collaborate with senior BI developers and data analysts to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Perform data quality checks and troubleshoot data-related issues.
- Document technical specifications, data flows, and BI solutions.
- Participate in team meetings, code reviews, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
Required Skills
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related technical field.
- Foundational understanding of relational databases and SQL.
- Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.
- Basic programming skills in Python or Java.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with a BI tool (e.g., IBM Cognos, Tableau, Power BI, QlikView).
- Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., IBM Cloud, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Understanding of data modeling techniques (star schema, snowflake schema).
- Prior internship experience in a data-related role is a plus.
