Job Description

GoodLife Fitness is seeking enthusiastic and responsible individuals to join our team as a Casual Gym Childcare Attendant in North York, Ontario. This is a fantastic opportunity to work flexible hours, support parents in achieving their fitness goals, and become part of Canada’s leading fitness organization. In this role, you will be responsible for supervising children in our childcare facility while their parents utilize the gym’s services. Your primary goal will be to ensure the safety, well-being, and entertainment of all children in your care, fostering a positive and welcoming atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise children aged 6 weeks to 12 years in the gym's childcare area, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Organize and lead age-appropriate activities, games, and crafts to keep children engaged and entertained.
- Ensure a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for all children, including sanitizing toys and equipment.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with parents regarding their children's activities and any concerns.
- Administer basic first aid when necessary and diligently follow all emergency procedures.
- Maintain accurate attendance records and adhere to all GoodLife Fitness policies and procedures related to childcare.
- Collaborate with other childcare attendants and gym staff to ensure smooth operations and a cohesive team environment.
- Address behavioral issues with patience and positive reinforcement, promoting a respectful atmosphere.
Required Skills
- Genuine love for children and a patient, nurturing demeanor.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, especially with children and parents.
- Ability to manage multiple children effectively and ensure their safety.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong sense of responsibility.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends.
- Willingness to learn and adhere to all childcare safety protocols and company policies.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a childcare setting, daycare, camp, or similar role.
- Certification in Standard First Aid and CPR-C.
- Early Childhood Education (ECE) diploma or related studies.
- Knowledge of child development stages and age-appropriate activities.
