Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Maritime & Shipping Operations Intern to join our team in Georgetown, Washington D.C. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the complex world of port and shipping operations within a leading global organization. You will support various projects related to port efficiency, logistics, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder engagement, contributing directly to our mission of connecting and simplifying global trade. This role is ideal for students or recent graduates passionate about the maritime industry, international trade, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the analysis of operational data to identify trends, efficiencies, and areas for improvement in port processes.
- Support the development and implementation of operational plans, schedules, and procedures.
- Research and monitor maritime industry regulations, policies, and best practices relevant to port authorities and shipping operations.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and documentation for internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Collaborate with various departments, including logistics, safety, and commercial, on cross-functional projects.
- Participate in meetings with industry partners, government agencies, and community organizations.
- Help organize and maintain operational records and databases.
- Provide administrative support to the operations team as needed.
Required Skills
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Maritime Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, International Relations, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated interest in the maritime industry, shipping, or port operations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous internship or relevant experience in logistics, transportation, or a maritime-related field.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools or business intelligence platforms.
- Knowledge of international trade principles and global supply chains.
- Ability to speak multiple languages (e.g., Spanish, French).
