Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Quality Control Chemist II to join our dynamic team in Laredo, TX. This role is pivotal in ensuring the quality and integrity of our chemical products, playing a critical part in our manufacturing process. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform complex chemical and physical analysis on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products using a variety of analytical techniques (e.g., HPLC, GC, FTIR, UV-Vis, Karl Fischer, Titrations).
  • Interpret analytical data, compare results to specifications, and release or reject materials based on established quality standards.
  • Conduct method validation and verification activities for new and existing analytical procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain laboratory instrumentation to ensure optimal performance and data accuracy.
  • Investigate out-of-specification (OOS) and out-of-trend (OOT) results, participate in root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Develop and revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other quality documentation.
  • Train junior chemists and laboratory technicians on analytical methods and quality principles.
  • Adhere strictly to cGMP, ISO, and company safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Participate in internal and external audits, providing technical expertise and documentation support.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the QC laboratory and overall manufacturing facility.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related scientific field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a Quality Control laboratory, preferably in chemical manufacturing or a related regulated industry.
  • Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting analytical instruments such as HPLC, GC, FTIR, and UV-Vis.
  • Strong understanding of cGMP, ISO standards, and other relevant quality regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform complex calculations and statistical analysis of data.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Chemistry or a related field.
  • Experience with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) and SAP.
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with method development and validation.
  • Familiarity with environmental health and safety (EHS) regulations specific to chemical manufacturing.
