Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Hotel Porter to join our dedicated team at The Nottingham Belfry. This is an outstanding opportunity for a professional looking to take on a leadership role, guiding and mentoring a team of porters while upholding our high standards of service. You will be instrumental in ensuring a seamless and welcoming experience for our guests, managing luggage, assisting with guest requests, and supporting various hotel operations. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of hotel porters, ensuring efficient and courteous service.
  • Oversee the timely and careful handling of guest luggage upon arrival, departure, and during room changes.
  • Assist guests with inquiries, directions, and general requests, demonstrating excellent customer service.
  • Manage the storage and retrieval of luggage, ensuring security and organisation.
  • Support the front office and other departments with various operational tasks as needed.
  • Ensure all public areas are tidy and presentable, reporting any maintenance issues promptly.
  • Train new porters on hotel procedures, safety protocols, and service standards.
  • Handle guest complaints and resolve issues professionally and efficiently.
  • Maintain a high level of personal presentation and professionalism at all times.
  • Operate hotel vehicles (if licensed and required) for guest transport or errands.
  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Hotel Porter, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or senior role.
  • Proven leadership and team management abilities.
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy luggage and stand for extended periods.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and guest satisfaction.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Valid UK driving license preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or higher in Hospitality or a related field.
  • First Aid certification.
  • Experience with hotel property management systems (PMS).
  • Knowledge of local attractions and amenities in Nottingham.
