Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Shopify Specialist – Data Migration Specialist to join our e-commerce team in Winnipeg. In this critical role, you will be responsible for ensuring the seamless and accurate transfer of vast amounts of data—including products, customers, orders, and more—between various systems and our Shopify platform. You will play a pivotal role in optimizing our e-commerce operations, maintaining data integrity, and contributing to the successful execution of our digital strategies. This position requires a deep understanding of Shopify’s architecture, data models, and best practices for data management and migration.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, design, and execute comprehensive data migration strategies for our Shopify e-commerce platform.
- Develop and implement custom scripts, tools, and processes for efficient and accurate data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL).
- Collaborate closely with e-commerce, development, marketing, and IT teams to understand data requirements and ensure successful data synchronization.
- Perform rigorous data quality assurance and validation to guarantee data integrity, consistency, and accuracy post-migration.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve data-related issues, discrepancies, and errors in a timely manner.
- Maintain thorough documentation of data migration processes, methodologies, and outcomes.
- Provide expert guidance on Shopify's data model, API capabilities, and best practices for data management.
- Stay updated with the latest Shopify features, apps, and data migration tools.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Shopify Specialist with a strong focus on data migration.
- In-depth knowledge of the Shopify platform, including its API, themes, and apps.
- Solid understanding of e-commerce data models (products, variants, customers, orders, inventory, etc.).
- Proficiency in data manipulation and querying languages (e.g., SQL).
- Experience with ETL tools and techniques.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Shopify certification(s).
- Experience with other e-commerce platforms (e.g., Magento, Salesforce Commerce Cloud).
- Proficiency in scripting languages like Python or Ruby for data processing.
- Experience with cloud-based data warehouses or databases.
- Project management experience in e-commerce or data-related projects.
