Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and organised Towing Yard Inventory Clerk to join our team in Shipley, West Yorkshire. This outdoor-based role is crucial for maintaining accurate records of scrapped and salvaged vehicles within our yard. You will be responsible for the precise logging, tracking, and management of vehicle inventory, often working in various weather conditions. This position requires a keen eye for detail, the ability to operate inventory management systems, and a proactive approach to maintaining an organised yard. Key Responsibilities
- Accurately log all incoming and outgoing scrapped and salvage vehicles into the inventory management system.
- Perform regular physical inventory checks to reconcile with system records, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
- Tag and mark vehicles with appropriate identification labels and status indicators.
- Organise vehicles within the yard according to company procedures, ensuring efficient space utilisation and accessibility.
- Assist with vehicle receiving and dispatch processes, verifying documentation and vehicle condition.
- Operate basic yard equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, hand trucks) as needed to move vehicles or parts.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area, ensuring safety standards are met at all times.
- Collaborate with towing teams, drivers, and other yard personnel to ensure smooth operations.
- Report any damaged, misplaced, or unaccounted-for vehicles immediately.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, with a strong emphasis on health and safety guidelines.
Required Skills
- Strong organisational and record-keeping skills.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications, including inventory management software or willingness to learn.
- Ability to work effectively in an outdoor environment, enduring various weather conditions.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, lift (up to 25kg), and bend for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a yard, warehouse, or inventory control role.
- Knowledge of vehicle types, components, or the automotive salvage industry.
- Experience with handheld scanning devices or mobile inventory tools.
- Valid UK driving license (desirable, but not essential for yard work).
